The project started with a classic question: what should the next generation carpet cleaner look like?
Tineco's first-generation carpet cleaner has the industry's best water recycle rate, and its exceptional suction power leaves carpets significantly drier after cleaning. However, the high price tag and disappointing sales data indicate that the story is more complex.

During our research, the design team tested existing carpet cleaner experiences and was shocked at how poor they were: heavy, clumsy, often leaking, leaving carpets soaking wet after cleaning.
The combination of strong market needs, clear user pain points, and Tineco's promising technological strengths presented an opportunity that only Tineco could seize, making a significant leap in the carpet cleaning experience.

Motor-assisted wheels used on the Floor One series could help eliminate the clumsy experience in the carpet cleaning process.
To deepen our understanding and ensure a strong product design, we created an environment mimicking a real American household, engaging with existing products, and empathizing with users. Simultaneously, we conducted interviews with first-generation users and analyzed online reviews of competitors to validate our insights.
We dived deep into the technological background to identify the best opportunities to leverage Tineco's strengths. We developed proposals, identified optimal layouts, and collaborated closely with the engineering team to find alignment.
The product successfully launched in 2025 and was nominated as one of TIME magazine's Best Inventions of 2025, significantly improving users' lives.
